Title: Why Study Heritage Languages?

Abstract: This minicourse presents and analyzes core issues in the study of heritage languages, a new area of investigation in language sciences. We will begin with the discussion of what heritage languages are and what they can offer to language theory. The course will then examine areas of strength and areas of vulnerability in heritage grammars, address issues in case licensing and agreement, and conclude with identifying future avenues of heritage language research.
