Curriculum Vitae

Guido Vanden Wyngaerd (°1964) studied Germanic languages at K.U.Brussel and the University of Antwerp. After his studies, he worked at the University of Antwerp for one year as an assistant in English linguistics. In 1987 he became a researcher with the Flemish Research Fund (FWO). He obtained his PhD from the University of Antwerp in 1990. In 1993 he published a monograph PROlegomena, which investigates the syntactic properties of infinitives. Between 1991 and 2000 he was a postdoctoral researcher at FWO. In 1994 he started teaching General Linguistics at K.U.Brussel. In 1996-1997 he was a visiting fellow to the Holland Institute of Generative Linguistics in Leiden. Between 2000 en 2001 he co-ordinated the Flemish branch of the Syntactic Atlas of Dutch Dialects (SAND), a joint Dutch-Flemish research project aimed at charting the syntactic variation in the Dutch dialects. In 2011 he published Dissolving Binding Theory (OUP) (with Johan Rooryck, Leiden), a monograph which develops a mimimalist theory of binding. He is currently a full-time professor at KU Leuven for the fields of Dutch and General Linguistics. He is an Associate Editor of Glossa.
