Curriculum Vitae
Marjolein Talsma (1996) started her BA at the University of Groningen in 2014, graduating in 2017 with a thesis on verb second and the Dutch prefix her- ‘re’. She continued her studies at Utrecht University (2017-2020), pursuing a Research Master in Linguistics, where she focused on syntax, morphology and the interface between syntax and semantics through a thesis on the argument structure of weather verbs. After completing her MA, she started her PhD at the University of Groningen in 2020, which resulted in a dissertation titled Argument structure as a function of Merge: From UTAH to IDAHO (defended in 2025). She remained at the University of Groningen as a lecturer and coordinator of the research institute for linguistics before starting her postdoc in the Categories and categorization in Afrikaans and Dutch (CatCAD) project at the KU Leuven September 2026.
